Help Build and Support the Team Behind the Work
Design Works is hometown favorite for landscaping. Our company has proudly served Southern NH and bordering MA towns for more than 20 years. We believe great landscapes start with great people, and we're looking for a People & Operations Coordinator who can help us build, support, and organize the team that makes our work possible.
This is not a traditional administrative assistant role. We are seeking a confident, experienced professional who can take ownership of recruiting, onboarding, employee support, compliance, and operational coordination.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, process-oriented, comfortable working independently, and capable of creating structure in a fast-paced, blue-collar environment.
What You'll Be Responsible For
People & Human Resources
Manage recruiting efforts including job postings, applicant screening, interview scheduling, interviewing, reference checks, and hiring administration.
Lead and improve the employee onboarding and training process.
Maintain accurate employee records and personnel documentation.
Administer employee paperwork including I-9s, W-4s, certifications, licenses, and compliance records.
Coordinate benefits enrollment and employee documentation.
Manage PTO tracking.
Manage employee records.
Support employee performance review processes and documentation.
Serve as a trusted resource for employee questions and concerns.
Assist managers with employee relations and workplace communication.
Lead relevant employee trainings and meetings as needed.
Coordinate employee recognition programs, celebrations, and company events.
Support workers' compensation reporting and documentation.
Assist with H-2B administration and related recordkeeping.
Help ensure compliance with labor laws, company policies, and HR best practices.
Administrative and Operations Support
Maintain organized digital filing systems and company records.
Assist with payroll preparation and time-tracking verification.
Prepare forms, reports, and internal documentation.
Assist leadership with special projects and process improvement initiatives.
Help develop and maintain standard operating procedures.
Coordinate DOT compliance tracking, renewals, and required documentation.
Assist with fleet administration including registrations, inspections, insurance records, and compliance documentation.
Maintain operational records and preventative maintenance tracking.
Support safety training programs and documentation.
Assist with communication between field teams and office staff.
Help maintain organized systems that support day-to-day operations.
Qualifications
Previous Human Resources experience required.
Strong understanding of employee onboarding, documentation, and compliance.
Exceptional organizational and follow-through skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and confidentiality.
Experience in landscaping, construction, trades, manufacturing, or similar industries preferred.
HR certification, HR degree, or equivalent professional experience preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $55,000–$85,000 annually depending on experience.
