DW Project Review: Radisson Wedding Design

When commercial properties invest in their landscapes, the goal should go beyond curb appeal. The right outdoor spaces become part of the guest experience. That was exactly the case with this wedding landscape design for the Radisson Hotel in Nashua, NH.
For this project, our role as landscape architects was not simply to make the space look beautiful for one event. The objective was to create an outdoor setting that could host meaningful moments again and again, while remaining practical and easy to maintain for the hotel long term.
Weddings are high pressure environments. Every detail is noticed, photographed, and remembered. The landscape needed to function as a backdrop, a gathering space, and a natural extension of the venue itself. Through thoughtful layout and carefully curated plantings, we designed a setting that felt elegant, intentional, and timeless without being fragile or overcomplicated.
Plant selections were chosen for structure, longevity, and seasonal interest. This ensures the space remains polished throughout the year, not just on wedding day. The layout was designed to guide movement naturally, creating focal points for ceremonies and photos while still allowing staff and guests to move comfortably through the area.
This is where landscape architecture brings real value to commercial properties. A typical landscaper may focus on installation alone. A landscape architect considers use, flow, and long term performance. We think about how guests experience the space, how staff interacts with it, and how it will hold up years down the road with consistent maintenance.
For hotels and commercial venues, outdoor spaces are not just decorative. They are destinations. They host events, create memories, and shape how guests feel about their stay. When designed correctly, these landscapes become centerpieces of the experience rather than background elements.
At Design Works, we believe commercial landscapes should work hard while still feeling effortless. This wedding setting at the Radisson Hotel is a perfect example of how thoughtful design can elevate a property, support operations, and create moments guests will remember long after they leave.
It is not just about planting or building. It is about creating spaces that serve a purpose, tell a story, and stand the test of time.
